While the SC had made it very clear in April this year that MBBS and BDS aspirants will have to compulsorily appear for NEET in order to seek admission to colleges, an ordinance was passed by the Central government and finally approved by President Pranab Mukherjee on May 24. According to the ordinance, only for this year, admissions to government-run medical and dental institutes will be based on MH-CET, the state medical examination, whereas for other private and deemed institutes students will have to submit their NEET results. From the next year, NEET will be the only medical entrance test accepted by all institutes.

After the declaration of results, the main counselling and registrations are expected to be conducted between August 22- August 25 on four days. The allotment of seats is expected to be done on August 27 and seat acceptance/admissions between August 28 to September 3. The second allotment would be done on September 12 on cbseneet.nic.in  official site

Bench revives NEET despite strong protests from States like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh that it was too late

The Supreme Court on Thursday gave the green signal for the CBSE to hold the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) 2017-17 in two phases and approved the Medical Council of India’s schedule for the common entrance exams for undergraduate medical and dental courses starting May 1.

The apex court bench headed by Justice Anil R. Dave gave its nod to two-phase holding of the NEET by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), as it declined the submission by certain states and associations of private medical colleges not to thrust NEET on them

The second phase would be conducted on July 24, the SC said.

The SC turned down plea of state governments and private colleges that NEET cannot be imposed on them.

With today’s SC order, all other examinations scheduled for next month stand scrapped.

The final result of two phases of the NEET would be declared by August 17.

According to the ANI , CBSE has proposed that the examination can be conducted in two phases. 6.5 Lakh students can appear in the first phase and 2.5 lakh students can appear in the Second phase. The first phase can be conducted on 1st May and Second phase can be on 24th July. The entire results can be declared on 17th August. The admission Procedure can be completed on 30th September.

NEET which will be held on May 1. While the second phase will be conducted on July 24 where 2.5 lakh candidates shall appear. Joint result will be announced on August 17. According to proposed schedule by Centre and CBSE admission procedure will be completed by September 30
